Chiropractic BioPhysics® is a highly-advanced, scientific, and proven chiropractic technique that corrects and restores your spine to normal alignment, thereby often times alleviating pain and discomfort from its source and allowing optimal nerve flow to the body’s organs and tissues.
Chiropractic BioPhysics® Technique combines the sciences of anatomy and physiology, along with physics, geometry, and engineering principles to identify the causes of your pain, discomfort, loss of mobility, and loss of health. That means your diagnosis – and treatment – will be based on sound principles that work to get you back on the road to recovery and regain your health.
Because everyone is different, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for treatment. Each patient’s care plan will involve specific mirror-image chiropractic adjustments related specifically to their postural and spinal abnormalities based on their examination and X-ray findings, specific mirror-image exercises, and a specific traction targeted to correct their spinal misalignment. A sound treatment plan that is followed through with by the patient, with care from a well-trained professional, is almost always a great way to not only alleviate symptoms, but also treat their root cause and help one regain their health and quality of life.
By performing pre-spinal X-rays and post-spinal X-rays, we are able to get a clear picture of the extent of spinal misalignment and objectively determine if and how long it will take to be able to correct underlying damage that is often responsible for pain and symptoms. We are also able to show the extent of improvement with care.
Because chiropractic care focuses on treating a patient’s central nervous system by way of the spinal column, chiropractors are often able to help patients with their symptoms more effectively than other medical professionals with a selective focus. This is why many patients notice an improvement in such a wide variety of conditions from neck or back pain to sleeping problems, chronic ear infections, and fibromyalgia. Working with a qualified chiropractor is a great way to address the entirety of a peripheral nerve disorder and other health problems.
Chiropractic is a safe and effective approach to solutions for your entire family from infants to the elderly.
What Makes CBP Different?
Not all chiropractors are the same. Drs. Mike and DeeDee Wampfler are only two out of a couple handfuls of chiropractors in the entire state of Illinois certified in Chiropractic Biophysics®(CBP) Technique – the most researched, published, and scientific chiropractic technique. We go beyond pain relief by striving to rehabilitate, strengthen, and remold your spine back to its “normal” optimal structure allowing your body to work as it was designed to.
Most chiropractors, like us, are concerned with eliminating pain. However, most address only segmental subluxations or misalignments in the spine between one vertebrae and another thereby virtually ignoring the global curvatures and structure of the spine. This only temporarily aids in the function of that joint and because the curvature or actual “structure” of the spine is not addressed, continued altered stress occurs at those subluxated or misaligned segments.
By addressing these individual segments as well as addressing the global spinal alignment and posture, those individual segments regain strength, mobility, and better function long-term. This allows the most freedom for the spinal cord and nerve roots to deliver nerve energy to and from various organs and tissues in the body.
CBP was founded by Dr. Donald Harrison, who applied the principles of math and engineering to the human spine. CBP is a whole-body technique that focuses on the entire spine as one unit and works to restore the entire spine and posture to normal alignment. CBP allows for a traditional method of segmental spinal adjusting according to the doctor’s preference for acute care during the initial pain- phase of care and then works beyond the pain to remodel the spine through specific mirror-image exercises, mirror-image adjustments, and extension-compression traction for long term healing and restoration.
Our goal goes beyond pain relief to restoring, remodeling, and strengthening your spine back to its “normal” structure to allow your body to work as it was designed to.
Restoring Your Health
The brain, spinal cord, and nerves make up the nervous system. Your nervous system is the master controlling system of the body and is vital to all your other organ systems, exhibiting influence over all of them including your immune system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, and more. Messages are sent back and forth from the brain, spinal cord, and nerves to all organs and systems in your body and then from the body back through the nerves to the spinal cord and back to the brain.
The brain and spinal cord are protected by bone – the skull houses the brain and the vertebral column protects the spinal cord. Your vertebral column is made up of 24 individual segments that have an intervertebral disc between to allow for cushion, support, and movement. A dense array of ligaments also serves to support the spinal column along with muscles.
Any misalignment of the spinal column causes an imbalance to the nervous system and can interfere with the nerve flow traveling to different organs and tissues in the body and can lead to a state of dis-ease, pain, and/or dysfunction. Just like a kink in a garden hose causes a reduction in water flow, a “kink” or misalignment, often referred to as a subluxation in the spine causes abnormal nerve energy.
Posture is like our window into the spine and is at the core of CBP care. Abnormal posture means that there is abnormal stress to the spine, spinal cord, and associated nerve roots causing an imbalance in nerve flow effecting various organs, muscles, and tissues. This causes the spine to wear down at an accelerated rate causing degenerative disc and joint disease, otherwise known as osteoarthritis, which can lead to pain and dysfunction. Altered nerve flow as a consequence also interferes with the body’s functions and can lead to any number of health problems such as neck or back pain, sciatica, numbness or tingling down an extremity or in the hands or feet, fibromyalgia, ringing in the ears, TMJ dysfunction, chronic ear infections, headaches, migraines, tight muscles, tension headaches, sleeping problems, dizziness, indigestion, heartburn, problems standing for long periods of time, allergies, asthma, and other health problems.
When viewed from the side, the spine should have three main curvatures. A normal lateral cervical lordosis (looks like a C-curve when viewed from the right side), a revered or kyphotic thoracic curve, and a lordotic lumbar elliptical curve are the normal spinal configurations. When viewed from the front, the spine should be straight and centered over the pelvis. Misalignments or subluxations in your spine can be caused by injuries, gravity, age, repeated poor posture, lack of physical activity, and disease and can have a damaging effect on health.
Because the spine houses the spinal column and provides for an exit for the nerves, any misalignment of the spinal column from the base to the skull can dramatically alter the health of anyone regardless of age. Infants and children can especially be affected from spinal misalignments and often improve remarkably in just a short time. Ever wonder why some babies are fussy while others aren’t. Often times it’s not just personality differences. Spinal subluxations often caused during the birth process can cause an infant to be fussy, gassy, and colicky. Also, people with poor
posture oftentimes are the first to get sick, suffer fatigue, and more muscle pains and gastrointestinal disorders than others because of the impeded nerve flow caused from an interference in their nervous system from spinal misalignments and will see marked improvement with corrective care.
We start with a complete patient history and spinal and postural examination often including spinal X-rays to help take the guess work out of the root cause of the patient’s problems and concerns. After carefully studying our examination findings and X-rays, will give a report of findings to the patient to determine if chiropractic corrective care can help them. If the patient qualifies for corrective care, we will put together a specific care plan letting the patient know what and how long it will take to help get them well and what things they will need to do. We also follow up accordingly with re-exams and X-rays to determine the patient’s progress and determine if any additional care is needed.
Many of our patients notice a dramatic decrease in pain in discomfort, while more importantly notice an increased sense of energy, improved sleeping, and sense of restored health and vitality.
